Floral Fade Prints
These prints were created for the Rachel Comey Pre-Fall 2023 collection.
To round out the prints for Rachel Comey’s PF23 collection, I created this set of 3 floral gradients. The first, on the left, plays with color and scale, starting as a cheerful floral and shifting hues and getting larger through the fade area before settling into its new iteration, sickly and creepy like ivy. The second print in the middle has a darker feel, layering the same flowers from the first print with an ominous shadow, as if a ghost of floral, threatening winter. The last print is maybe the most classic, becoming the key to its success: two bright florals, reminiscent of a 50’s housewife, clashing and fading into each other, not without some resistance. It is at once cheerful and unnerving. These three prints were made to play off each other, and provide something for any customer.
The fade sections were placed on various heights of the garments, to highlight different aspects of the designs and the body.
